About Us

Mission

The California Housing Partnership Corporation (CHPC) assists nonprofit and government housing agencies create, acquire and preserve housing affordable to lower income households, while providing leadership on housing preservation policy and funding.

What We Do

CHPC is unique in combining extensive experience in multifamily housing finance transactions with a deep commitment to affordable housing policy and technical assistance. CHPC regularly advises California’s housing agencies and the legislature and Congressional staff on housing resource issues and is recognized as a national leader in the field.

Financial Consulting and Syndication of Low Income Housing Tax Credits

CHPC provides expert advice on financial strategies to maximize equity and bond or loan proceeds raised, negotiation with equity investors, lenders, and underwriters, preparation of financial projections, and assistance in obtaining funding from competitive federal, state and local programs. In addition, CHPC is expert in finding creative ways to finance environmentally sustainable housing, including the use of such incentives as Solar Tax Credits, and federal and state tax deductions that can work in conjunction with the complicated array of existing affordable housing programs. Policy and Advocacy

CHPC works with industry allies in Washington, D.C., and Sacramento to increase the efficiency and funding levels of housing programs to benefit low income Californians. CHPC’s Federal Policy Project (FPP) advocates for federal housing policy reform. The FPP brings together housing authorities and local government leaders with tenant advocates and the vital nonprofit housing development and advocacy sector to find common ground and present a unified message from California to our elected leaders in Congress on key housing issues. Preservation

CHPC currently maintains the only comprehensive database of subsidized housing at risk of conversion in California. Housing Preservation News, CHPC’s monthly newsletter, provides readers with regular updates on affordable housing preservation-related issues. Since its incorporation in 1988, CHPC has helped its partners to create and preserve more than 12,000 affordable homes in California and provided training and technical assistance to more than 5,000 individuals.
